******Another ancient craft is practiced in the village of Ban Kwow
[ Ban means village ] in northern Thailand. Khmer craftmen, mostly recent refugees from Pat Pol of Cambodia, continue an art they have practiced for a thousand years or so. Thin ribbons of silver or gold are formed into beads and then filled with lac. The lac keeps the beads firm When the bead has been completed , sharpened nails and such tools are used to engrave designs on the sides.
